The Japanese word “Bon-sai” means “planted in a container”. The goal of this ancient form of horticulture which has been around for over 1000 years is to grow a miniaturized version of a tree. Bonsai are not genetically dwarfed versions of trees they are regular plants that are pruned, pinched and wired carefully to redirect healthy growth into a smaller version. So, these less than 4-foot-tall not genetically modified trees can be grown anywhere, require patience, focus and allow you to connect with nature. Do you see where this is going? These tiny trees, teach patience, give a sense of purpose and responsibility, keep you away from social media and the sofa, connect you with nature, and like other plants cleans your air if grown indoors.
