Scientists from the National Institutes of Health announced that omega-3 fatty acids are important to eye health based on studies going back twenty years. (1)

Omega-3s are used to make important antioxidants which is beneficial because the delicate retina is particularly prone to free radical damage.

Like carrots, Omega-3 consumption has many benefits; below are just a few:

  • Fight depression and anxiety
  • Improved eye health
  • Improve risk factors of heart disease
  • Fight inflammation
  • Fight autoimmune diseases
  • Fight age related mental decline
  • Help prevent cancer

How can we get more Omega-3s in our diets?  Fatty fish such as salmon, cod, and mackerel.  They can both also be found in algae, which is not only vegetarian, it’s also a sustainable source of Omega-3s.
